It's Jan. 6, which means it's time to reveal the authors of the 30 stories written for this year's [livejournal.com profile] bandomstuffsit exchange!

Drumroll, please! )
[identity profile] stuffitmod.livejournal.com
This is your final reminder: The deadline for your [livejournal.com profile] bandomstuffsit exchange fics is just over 24 hours away, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific time Friday.

If you need to refresh your memory about how to format your submissions, see this post.
[identity profile] stuffitmod.livejournal.com
Hi, everyone! This is your reminder that the due date for your bandomstuffsit exchange fics is just over a month away. They are due no later than 11:59 p.m. Pacific time Friday, Dec. 14. By that time, fics must have been beta'd, and they must be at least 1,500 words.

Please e-mail the completed fic to stuffitmod@gmail.com with a subject line that reads: "bandomstuffsit gift by (your lj name)." You should attach your fic in a text (.txt) file, with italics/bolding/other HTML coding already done, so the fic will be formatted the way you want it to appear when I post it to the community. If you don't understand how to code bold/italics/whatever, please check out this LJ FAQ.

This is the header you should include with your fic:

Please note that you MUST fill out the warning section of your header. If you've written a fluffy fic with nothing more edgy than snowball fights and a kiss under the mistletoe, you can simply write "none" in that field. However, you MUST warn for non-con, dubcon, death, incest, self-harm, eating disorders, violence and gore.

If you know now or come to realize that you will not be able to finish your recipient's fic, let me know as soon as possible. I'd like to give pinch hitters as much time to work as possible.

Everyone should have received an email with this same information. You don't need to confirm or check in yet, because I'll be sending another email sometime in early December to make sure everyone's still on track. If you haven't received an email from me yet, please check your spam filters. If you still haven't gotten it, send me an email at stuffitmod@gmail.com and I'll re-send.

Thank you and happy writing!
[identity profile] stuffitmod.livejournal.com
Hello, everyone! I've just finished emailing out assignments, so please check the email address you signed up with, and you should find a prompt waiting for you! If you don't have one, check your spam folder just in case. If it's not there, e-mail me at stuffitmod@gmail.com and I'll resend it.

Please read your assignment email carefully, as it includes important details all participants need to be aware of.

[identity profile] stuffitmod.livejournal.com
Welcome to the 3nd annual Stuff it for Bandom holiday exchange! Below you will find everything you need to participate. Please read it carefully!

  • What it is: A bandom Secret Santa-style fic exchange.

  • When you can sign up: Now through 11:59 p.m. Pacific time Friday, Oct. 12.

  • When you'll receive your assignment: By Wednesday, Oct. 17.

  • When fics are due: 11:59 p.m. Pacific time Friday, Dec. 14.

  • Requirements: All fics must be at least 1,500 words and be beta'd.

  • When fics will be posted: They'll be split up across a 12-day period from Saturday, Dec. 22, through Wednesday, Jan. 2.

  • When authors will be revealed: Sunday, Jan. 6.

  • Important notes on pairings: You can ask for pretty much any bandom pairings you want. Just remember we're working from the premise that bandom isn't any bands ever. It has traditionally included Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Panic! at the Disco, The Academy Is..., Cobra Starship, Gym Class Heroes, The Used, The All-American Rejects, The Hush Sound and related bands. Several of those bands are no longer together, but anyone who was at one time a member can be included in this challenge.

You may ask for intra- or interband pairings, and you're also allowed to ask for pairings that include band members' significant others/spouses as well as fringe bandom people such as Brian Schechter, Zack Hall, Shane Valdez, etc. However, these people MUST be paired with a band member or former band member. So Brendon/Shane Valdez, for example, is A-OK. But Shane Valdez/Zack Hall would not be accepted.

However, if you request pairings that include a fringe character, you must also request at least two pairings that are composed solely of band members/former band members.

If you have questions about whether your pairings are okay, send your question to stuffitmod@gmail.com.

To sign up, just fill out the form below that includes the following:

  • Which pairings you'd like to read about. You can list as many pairings as you want, but you must list at least three. If you request GSF or threesomes, please also list at least two regular pairings in addition to those. This way your writer will have some options! From these options, writers only have to pick one of the pairings, though they may include more of your pairings if they'd like.

  • Which pairings you don't want to read about. Obviously writers should choose to write one of the pairings you request, but this is here to ensure they don't include a side pairing that you have strong objections to.

  • What elements you would like to see in the fic written for you. These include fic cliches, tropes, kinks, AUs, etc. These are meant to give your writer an idea of what you might enjoy. However, your writer is not required to write any of these elements.

  • What elements you do not want to read. For example, if you don't want angst, death, watersports, etc., list it here. Fic writers MUST abide by this list of don'ts.

  • Additional details/prompts. Again, this helps give your writer ideas, but they do not have to adhere to these. In this area, you could give prompts or let your writer know if there's a pairing or character you've listed that you'd strongly prefer they write about.

  • Which pairings or bands you'd be comfortable writing. For example, if you're comfortable writing any pairing in MCR, you can just list MCR. If you can only write Gerard/Frank, just list them instead.

  • Which pairings or bands you would not be comfortable writing. If you know nothing about Empires, for example, and list them here, I'll make sure not to assign you someone who only wants Empires fic.

  • Elements you wouldn't mind writing and elements you wouldn't want to write. This helps to match you up with requesters.

  • If you'd be interested in pinch-hitting. In case there are dropouts, I'll put you on the list of people I need to beg to help make sure everyone gets a fic.

  • INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT NOTE: If you dropped out last year without letting me know you couldn't complete a fic, you will not be allowed to participate this year. If you sign up, you must commit to finishing a gift. If you unexpectedly need to drop out, email me to let me know as soon as possible so I can find a pinch hitter. Otherwise, you will never be allowed to participate in this exchange again.

Anyone who needs a deadline extension will get ONE THREE-DAY EXTENSION. If you don't meet your second deadline, you won't get another extension, I'll just start looking for a pinch hitter. Last year I allowed too many extensions and got burned, and I won't do it again.

So if you feel you're up to the challenge, just copy the form above, fill it out, and comment on this post with your completed form. Comments are screened. Make sure to include your e-mail address so I can contact you if I have questions. For example, if you only offer to write a couple of pairings and no one requests those, I may ask you to offer more pairings or give you the option of dropping out of the exchange.

IMPORTANT CHANGE: Last year, writers were able to choose whether they'd like to know who their recipient was. It caused problems that I don't wish to repeat, so we're going back to your recipient being a mystery. That means you'll need to be detailed in your signup form about your preferences. If at any point you have questions for your recipient, questions and answers will be relayed through me. Just e-mail stuffitmod@gmail.com.

About mid-November I will send a reminder to participants. With that reminder, I'll send a template of how headers should be formatted and details about how fics should be sent in.

Hopefully dropouts won't be a problem, but I plan to begin looking for pinch hitters as soon as the Dec. 14 turn-in deadline has passed. I hope to give pinch hitters about a week to complete their fics.

So if all that sounds doable, feel free to sign up or ask questions and spread the word about this year's challenge! And thanks for helping to make someone's holidays happier!

    Signups are now CLOSED.

It's Jan. 6, which means it's time to reveal the authors of the 46 stories written for this year's [livejournal.com profile] bandomstuffsit exchange! Believe it or not, we had the exact same number of fics as last year. Crazy coincidence!

    Drumroll, please! )

Contrary to my earlier estimate, this year's exchange is not yet complete. Three gifts remain, and they will be posted as soon as possible. The recipients have been contacted about the delay, and their fics are on the way. I still plan for reveals to take place Friday.

I'm sorry about the delay and any bumps in the road of this year's exchange, but I'd like to thank everyone who participated. I hope the exchange has been an enjoyable addition to the holiday season.
    [identity profile] stuffitmod.livejournal.com
It's almost time to get this show on the road, everyone! In about 10-12 hours I'm going to begin posting this year's gifts, and I plan to post three or four fics a day through Jan. 3.

Please remember to leave feedback for your gift and any other fics you enjoy! If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at stuffitmod@gmail.com.

Hello, everyone! I've just finished emailing all participants their assignments, so please check the email address you signed up with, and you should find a prompt waiting for you! If you don't have one, e-mail me at stuffitmod@gmail.com and I'll resend it.

I'm sorry, everyone, but I'm running behind on passing out assignments. I've made all the matches but still have to finish compiling and sending out emails. I'd hoped to be able to have them all passed out by the end of today, but it's looking unlikely. Hopefully I can finish sending them out by the end of the day Friday, though.

I will make a post here when I have finished sending out assignment emails. If you haven't received yours at that time, I'll ask you to check your spam folders and email stuffitmod@gmail.com.

    Thanks for your patience, everyone!

Welcome to the 2nd annual Stuff it for Bandom holiday exchange! Below you will find everything you need to participate. Please read it carefully!

  • What it is: A bandom Secret Santa-style fic exchange.

  • When you can sign up: Now through 11:59 p.m. Pacific time Sunday, Oct. 16.

  • When you'll receive your assignment: By Thursday, Oct. 20.

  • When fics are due: 11:59 p.m. Pacific time Friday, Dec. 16.

  • Requirements: All fics must be at least 1,500 words and be beta'd.

  • When fics will be posted: We'll split them up across a 12-day period from Friday, Dec. 23, through Tuesday, Jan. 3.

  • When authors will be revealed: Friday, Jan. 6.

  • Important notes on pairings: Pairings can include anyone from Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Panic! at the Disco, The Young Veins, The Academy Is..., Cobra Starship, Empires, The Like, Gym Class Heroes, The Hush Sound, The Cab and Hey Monday. Current, former and touring band members are fair game.

For example: You want to request Shane/Brendon. Great! You also want to request Bob/Brian. That's fantastic! But because those two pairings include two people who aren't part of the bands, you must request at least two more "core" pairings such as Brendon/Spencer, Patrick/Bob, Z/Tennessee, Travie/William, Greta/Bob Morris, etc.

If you have questions about whether your pairings are okay, send your question to stuffitmod@gmail.com.

To sign up, just fill out the form below that tells us the following:

  • Which pairings you'd like to read about. You can list as many pairings as you want, but you must list at least three. If you request GSF or threesomes, please also list at least two regular pairings in addition to those. This way your writer will have some options! • If you'd be interested in pinch-hitting. In case we have dropouts, we'll put you on the list of people we need to beg to help make sure everyone gets a fic.

  • Please be aware that this is a fic exchange. By signing up, you are promising to complete a fic for someone else. Please only sign up if you feel confident that you will be able to complete a fic for someone. If something comes up and you have to drop out, please give us as much warning as possible so that we can find a pinch hitter. We want to make sure everyone gets a fic for the holidays! If you feel you're up to the challenge, just copy the form above, fill it out, and comment on this post with your completed form. Comments are screened. Make sure to include your e-mail address so we can contact you if we have questions.

THERE'S ONE BIG CHANGE THIS YEAR: Last year, we did not tell writers who they were writing for. This year, writers will be able to choose whether they'd like to know who their recipient is. Some of you may like the freedom of not having a name attached, while others may want to do some covert research on what their recipients like. When it comes time and you get your prompt, you should respond to say you got it and to specify whether you want to know your recipient's identity.

So, since some writers might choose to be surprised about who they're writing for, please be detailed in your signup form about your preferences. If at any point you have questions for your recipient, questions and answers will be relayed through mods. Just e-mail questions to stuffitmod@gmail.com.

About mid-November we will send a reminder to participants. With that reminder, we'll send a template of how headers should be formatted and details about how fics should be sent in.

Hopefully dropouts won't be a problem, but we plan to begin looking for pinch hitters as soon as the Dec. 16 deadline has passed. We hope to give pinch hitters about a week to complete their fics.

So feel free to sign up or ask questions and spread the word about this year's challenge! And thanks for helping to make someone's holidays happier!

It's Jan. 7, which means it's time to reveal the authors of the 46 fantastic stories written for the inaugural [livejournal.com profile] bandomstuffsit exchange!

    Drumroll, please! )

We will be adding the authors' names to their respective stories now that the reveals have been made. Writers, you're now free to repost/crosspost your fics and respond to your feedback.

Thank you so much to every single person who wrote a fic, and to our two absolutely wonderful pinch hitters, [livejournal.com profile] romanticalgirl and [livejournal.com profile] dandy_fetish, who should be heaped with praise for being so completely awesome. Thanks also to all the betas (who sadly could not be credited in the story headers to ensure anonymity) and everyone who left feedback. We hope you all enjoyed the stories and the experience as a whole!

Before we wrap things up for good, we mods wanted to make sure and acknowledge the people who helped us when we were laying the groundwork for the exchange: [livejournal.com profile] blindingsight, [livejournal.com profile] cheapcrowd, [livejournal.com profile] globalfruitbat, [livejournal.com profile] quarterturn and [livejournal.com profile] roadmarks. Thanks so much for helping us get this thing off the ground in the planning stage!

And now that the exchange is done and everything's gone smoothly, we mods have decided we probably won't be pelted with rotten fruit if we reveal ourselves (in a manner of speaking).

So thank you to everyone who took part. We hope you had as much fun as we did!

Yesterday we reached the end of the fic-posting road for this year's [livejournal.com profile] bandomstuffsit challenge, which produced 46 brand new bandom fics! Authors will be revealed Friday, and writers will then be welcome to post/link their stories elsewhere. We mods wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated. We hope everyone enjoyed the stories they received and had fun writing their own! We had a lot of fun running this exchange, and we hope you all enjoyed taking part in it.

But the fun isn't over yet! We thought it might be fun to have a guessing post. You can comment to this post with your speculation on which participant wrote which story. There's no reward for the person who gets the most correct, except for the awe and respect of your peers! We've included a handy, dandy list of participants to make guessing easier. (And just to make it even easier, we'll go ahead and tell you that one author wrote two fics for us, and one author didn't receive a gift since they graciously filled in for us when we needed a pinch hitter!)

The list of 45 gift-givers is right behind this cut! )

    Let the speculation begin!
    [identity profile] stuffitmod.livejournal.com
    Hello everyone!

We hope you enjoyed today's fics, and we just wanted to remind everyone that we'll be posting three to four fics a day through January 2nd. Authors will be revealed on January 7th, so we'd like to remind our writers not to reveal themselves and/or crosspost or repost their stories before the reveal. We're looking forward to all the fic and hope you are too, so have fun and don't forget to comment on the stories you read! We want to wish everyone happy holidays and thank everyone who participated in the challenge!

    Thanks,
    Your Bandomstuffsit Mods
