Back to Part One

Brendon hesitates for a moment before walking into the music shop. Mikey merely nodded at him last night in the club—Brendon went without Spencer this time, since Spence was exhausted after his double-shift—but the last time they talked Mikey mentioned that he hadn't had strawberries in a while. The smoothie shop had gotten a new shipment that morning, so Brendon made Mikey a classic strawberry smoothie, and took some of the strawberries with him in a box.

He shakes his head and pushes the door open. Ray greets him cheerfully, and Mikey's head comes up as well. His eyes light up when he sees the box in Brendon's hand.

"Is that what I think it is?"

"Uh," Brendon says, and Ray explains, "He can smell it. What is it?"

"Strawberries," Brendon says, and Ray makes an appreciative noise. Mikey actually reaches toward it, and Brendon grins and hands it over.

Mikey just stares at it for a bit, before carefully peeling it open. "Thank you."

Brendon shrugs awkwardly. "It was nothing."

Mikey shakes his head. "You've tried one, right?"

"Yeah," Brendon says. "I'm not that much of a fan, though? Mostly I like them because of the song."

Mikey tilts his head at him in question.

"Uh, you know, that song by the Beatles?"

"Sure," Mikey says. "I think we have that in, the single."

"Oh yeah, I think I saw it." Brendon bites at his lip, and then turns his head towards Ray. "You want one?"

"Yeah, thanks," Ray says, and Mikey holds the box out to him.

Brendon figures it's the least he can do. He's been coming to the shop almost every day, but still hasn't bought anything. Ray doesn't seem to mind, though.

A customer walks in then and Ray hurries over to hover a respectable distance from them. Mikey rolls his eyes, and takes another strawberry. Brendon makes a mental note to order more strawberries. He pushes the smoothie closer to Mikey, as well, and Mikey raises his eyebrows at him.

"Uh, sorry, but I'm pretty sure it's better like this." He pops another strawberry in his mouth, and Brendon grins.

"Probably," he says. "But the strawberry smoothie is a classic after all."

"Really?" Mikey says, and one side of his mouth quirks up. Brendon has the sudden desire to whoop. He loves it when he manages to find something to bring Mikey out of his shell more—even when it does end with Mikey teasing him. How was Brendon supposed to know that Batman and Spider-Man didn't operate in the same universe. Apparently Mikey takes comic books really seriously. It was worth it for the way Mikey started waving his arms around when he explained the origins of the old superheroes, though.

Brendon nods solemnly and says, "It's one of the oldest drinks in the Universe." Mikey cracks up at that, actually laughs. Brendon beams in response and savors the warm feeling in his stomach.

~

One day Brendon wanders in with a smoothie, and there's a stranger behind the counter. Brendon pauses for a moment, before he realizes that the guy actually looks a bit familiar. He walks closer, and the guy raises his head, just as Mikey appears from the back. That completes the picture and Brendon remembers that it's Gerard, Mikey's brother.

Mikey notices him then, and nods in greeting.

"Hey," Brendon says, and puts the smoothie on the counter. "Uh."

"Hi," Gerard says. "Brendon, right?" Brendon nods. Gerard's smiling, his expression warm and open, and Brendon remembers how thankful he'd been to Brendon that night. It makes him feel just a little awkward, he didn't really do that much.

"What's that?" Gerard asks, looking at the drink in front of Mikey.

"Smoothie," Mikey says before Brendon gets the chance to. Gerard furrows his brow.

"Oh. Do you have any coffee?"

"In the back," Mikey says, and Gerard quickly disappears behind the door.

Brendon leans his elbows on the counter. "This one has blue stars in it. You're not allergic to that, right? Or any other fruit?"

Mikey is looking at him, considering, and Brendon bites his lip.

"Not really allergic to much besides silver," Gerard says, and Brendon startles. He didn't notice Gerard coming back. He's leaning against the side of the counter, sipping his coffee.

"Oh," Brendon says. "Ah, okay. Good to— Well, yeah." He fidgets a little. "I should probably go, my break's gonna be over soon."

Mikey tilts his head a little to the side, and Brendon's suddenly hit by how slender his neck is. "Yeah," he says, softly. "Thanks for the smoothie."

"It was nice to see you," Gerard says cheerfully, and Brendon hurries out of the shop.

~

One night there's a guy at the club who won't leave him alone. He's annoying, and not in the fun way that Gabe is. Hell, Brendon knows that he himself can be considered to be annoying—by deeply deluded people, of course—but the guy is just making him nervous.

"Uh," Brendon says, and tries to inconspicuously move away from the bar. "I'm just gonna—" The guy offered to buy him drinks like a million times, but Brendon figures he must get the hint eventually.

Instead, the guy grabs his arm, hard, and Brendon freezes.

"Uh," he says again, and tries to tug his hand free, but the has a tight grip on his wrist. "Could you please get off me?"

"Listen," the guy slurs, and Brendon knew he was pretty drunk, he could see it, but fuck, this is really not good—

"Problem, gentlemen?" someone says, and Brendon relaxes, because oh, thank fuck, it's security. "I think you better leave."

The security dude takes hold of the guy, and gives a quick nod to Brendon before hurrying off. Brendon blinks, and leans back against the bar. That was some seriously efficient shit right there. He can feel his heart beating fast in his chest.

"Are you okay?"

Brendon startles, but it's only— Shit, it's Mikey. Brendon can feel his face heat up, fuck, now Mikey saw how he was totally pathetic, and the security had to get involved—

"Brendon?" Mikey moves a little closer to him, careful not to touch him, and there's an edge to his voice. It sounds a bit like concern, but there's— There's something else, like, underlining it. Brendon shivers a little, remembering the night he met Mikey.

Sure, then he was nothing more than a harmless—puppy, ha, Brendon's hilarious—but he's still...

"Brendon?"

"No, yeah." Brendon shakes his head. "He was just annoying, it wasn't really—"

"He grabbed you," Mikey says, quietly.

Brendon tilts his head at Mikey. "You saw that?" He's pretty sure there were quite a few people around— Actually, he's not even sure how the security saw him, most people weren't paying attention to them. Probably the bartender alerted them.

Mikey shrugs. "I was looking this way. You sure you're fine?"

Brendon nods again. "I'm good." He's a bit on edge, but right now he just wants another drink—

"Do you need anything?" Mikey asks, and Brendon grins at him.

They're interrupted then, by a guy slinking up to Brendon, and smiling. Not again, Brendon thinks, and then wonders when he started looking at guys who wanted to talk to him as annoyances. He probably wouldn't really mind, but he's kind of, just a little bit freaked after the incident before, and, well, he has Mikey here now.

Mikey, who has gone even more still next to him. Brendon frowns, and then he realizes, abruptly, that Mikey is growling, deep in his throat.

"Uh," Brendon says, startled. "Sorry, gotta go, bye." He addresses that to the dude, grabs Mikey's arm, and drags him to the one of the side booths.

Mikey sits down across from him a bit reluctantly, eyes still trained at the bar, and Brendon leans in to get his attention.

"Did you seriously just growl at him?" he whispers, and Mikey finally looks at him. He seems a bit surprised when he realizes how close Brendon is, but he doesn't flinch back. Instead his face takes on a sheepish quality, and he bites his lip.

"Sorry, I didn't— I got carri— Anyway, I'm sorry, it won't happen again."

Brendon shakes his head. "Dude, I don't even know what to— Uh, thanks?"

Mikey frowns.

"That's not—"

"Do you want to get a drink?" Brendon interrupts him, because Mikey's right here, talking to him, and he just fucking growled at some dude like he— Well, anyway, it was awesome.

Mikey doesn't answer, though, and Brendon can feel his face falling.

"I should get home," Mikey says. "Early day tomorrow. Maybe some other time."

Brendon nods at him, and Mikey gets up quickly. He pauses next to Brendon, though, like he wants to say something. Brendon leans back in the booth and looks up at Mikey.

"Uh, see you later," Mikey says, and Brendon swallows heavily.

Mikey leaves, and Brendon stoops lower, before shaking himself out of it and going to chat with the familiar bartender. He sticks around for a little bit, pretending he isn’t disappointed, before he heads back home.

Spencer frowns a lot when Brendon tells him what happened, and leans against him on the couch. Brendon doesn't mention the whole growling thing. He kind of wants to keep it to himself.

~

Gerard gives Mikey a considering look when he gets home. Mikey's not meeting his gaze, but he can feel it, and it makes him itchy. The change being so close doesn't help, and it obviously did him no favors tonight.

"You seem worried," Gerard states, and Mikey frowns. "What's wrong?"

Mikey shrugs.

"Are you still spying on Brendon?" Gerard asks, and Mikey gives him a look.

"It's not spying," he mumbles.

Gerard pulls him down to the couch as he's passing, and puts a hand on his shoulder.

"You know, you don't have to look after him all the time," Gerard says, eyes sincere. Mikey doesn't meet his gaze. "It's not like you owe—"

Mikey flips his head up and narrows his eyes. "It's not that."

"Yeah," Gerard says. "I didn't think so."

Mikey wants to be mad at Gerard, for making assumptions, for— For knowing him so well, but that's ridiculous. It's Gerard, of course he knows.

"It's not spying," he says again. "I talked to him this time."

Gerard smiles at him at first, but furrows his brow when Mikey purses his lips together. "What— Did something happen?"

Mikey shrugs. "Some guy was bothering him. The security took care of it, but uh. Another guy wanted to, well, talk to him or something, and I sort of— Growled at him."

Gerard widens his eyes.

Mikey rubs at the spot between his eyes. "Not loud enough for him to hear, but Brendon did. I. It had to have freaked him out."

"Did he look freaked out?" Gerard asks.

Mikey sighs and shakes his head. "I just— I had no right." He hates this, the possessive side that always comes out stronger with the moon. He knows it's not nearly as bad as it is for Gerard, him being the leader of their little pack, but it still sucks.

Gerard rubs his back. "Did you apologize?"

Mikey nods. "I don't think he really got it, though. I—"

"Maybe he doesn't care, even if he did get it. Maybe he didn't mind." Gerard's voice is gentle, and Mikey wants to believe him.

"Anyway, let's worry about that tomorrow," Gerard says. "You need to rest."

Mikey rolls his eyes, but lets Gerard tug him up and upstairs. He gives Mikey a brief hug before he heads off into his own bedroom. The "it will be okay" goes unsaid, but Mikey can hear it as clear as day.

~

Brendon's exhausted at work the next day, and he almost messes up a couple of orders. He can't wait till his shift's over and he can head home. He'd planned on dropping off some job applications through the system at the mall's notifications centre, and upload some ads for guitar lessons. He stops by the music shop later, sans smoothie, but Mikey isn't even there. Ray smiles at him happily, though, and Brendon vows to himself that he'll save enough money to actually buy something from the shop at one point. He knows that Ray doesn't mind that he hasn't, but he wants to.

He chats with Ray for a little while, and then takes the Transport home by himself since Spencer's working late tonight. Brendon stands in front of their apartment building, then turns around and starts walking.

Brendon hasn't stopped by the docks after his first week on the station. He didn't like to think about how easy it would be to get on one of the shutters and go back, when it really wasn't, not at all.

He sits down on a bench at the viewing area and leans against the back of it, watching the shuttles take off. He used to do it all the time back ho— Back then. Or at least as often as he could get away with. The docks were close to his school, and when they were older, he and Spencer, and sometimes some other kids would wander over during lunch break. Brendon would just stare at the shuttles, too afraid to even consider ever being on one, but still feeling a quiet excitement thrumming in him. What if.

"Hey," someone calls out, and Brendon turns his head towards the voice. He's surprised to find that it's Gerard. He waves at Brendon, walking closer, and Brendon nods at him. "Mind if I join you?"

"Uh, sure." Brendon scoots a bit to the left to make room for Gerard who plants himself next to him.

"It's nice out here, isn't it?" Gerard asks. "I usually come here for inspiration. There's just— Something about it." He waves a hand at the docks, the vast space behind them. Brendon nods.

"I always used to dream about getting on one," he says. "And then I finally did."

Gerard's shoulders tense up a bit, but he turns towards Brendon, face open. "And how was it?"

Brendon smiles. "Awesome. Scary."

Gerard gives him a small smile in return, and leans back as well. They watch the shuttles taking off in silence.

Eventually Brendon gets a bit tired of it, and decides to start up a conversation again.

"I didn't see Mikey in the store today," he mentions, and then flushes slightly. He hadn't really planned on starting with that.

Gerard's quiet for a little while, and Brendon chances a glance at him. He looks thoughtful, but then turns towards Brendon, and says, "He's changing tonight."

Brendon's confused for a moment, but— Oh. Oh, of course. Werewolf. Somehow he keeps forgetting that.

"It's better to get some rest, before," Gerard says. "Well, I pretty much made him stay home this time. He doesn't like missing work, but Ray will understand."

Brendon nods, and figures, what the hell, if Gerard's talking about it then maybe he can find out more about the whole thing.

"How— That night, when I found him, that—"

"That was... different." Gerard shrugs a little, as if unsure how much he should say. "It was a spontaneous turn. It's unusual, but apparently it sometimes happens. We've been more consistent, lately. That should keep it from happening again."

"I— You're a werewolf, too." Gerard only nods, and Brendon continues. "But you don't change on the same day? I thought— The myths I read as a kid, they said you all changed on the same day."

"We used to change together," Gerard says. "Back on Earth, when the Moon controlled us." Brendon gives Gerard a startled look.

"You're from Earth?"

Gerard nods. "We had to leave after the Wars." He says it easily enough, but Brendon can sense the tension rolling off of him. Brendon hurries to change the subject.

"So you change differently here?"

Gerard gives him a calculating look, and then leans forward. "Well, since the Moon is too far to influence us we need pills to bring about the change."

"But can't you just... not change? I mean, now that nothing's really making you do it—"

Gerard shakes his head. "It doesn't really work like that, unfortunately. Our bodies still need to, well, release the tension, so to speak. The need is still there, it just won't resolve itself in a natural way. Hence the pills."

Brendon mulls this over. "But why don't you take the pills at the same time?"

"Well, at first we did, and just locked ourselves in the basement, but it was... unsatisfactory. We used to go out running during the full moon, and even though the basement was safe— Eventually we found some drugs we could take to make us more calm, so we'd sleep through the change. It felt safer if one of us was guarding the other, in case something happened."

"Like what?" Brendon asks.

Gerard purses his lips. "It's— It's different on this station, but even here. Well, even though we're equal citizens, there's still some troubles, and it's. It felt safer. We've never really had much problems, but it's probably just..."

He trails off, and Brendon thinks he gets it. He can't imagine going through something like the Wars. It's obvious Gerard just wants to keep Mikey safe, at all costs.

Gerard seems to shake himself a little, and then looks quizzically at Brendon. "Mikey never told you about this?"

Brendon shrugs. "I didn't really ask. I figured, like— It was none of my business?"

"But you were curious," Gerard states. "He would have told you, you know." Brendon shrugs again.

"It's, like, personal shit."

Gerard looks at him. "He would have told you."

Brendon doesn't really know how to answer, so he looks away, catches another shuttle taking off, hovering in mid-air before it accelerates and disappears.

"I— Did he tell you what happened in the club the other night?" He turns back to Gerard, who just nods. Brendon shakes his head. "I thought— Like, we don't usually talk when we see each other in the club or anything, but I thought— Like, that we were maybe friends or something, you know? But he just took off."

Gerard furrows his brow. "He thought he'd freaked you out, or— He felt bad. About acting so possessive."

What. "Possessive?" Brendon doesn't— He didn't allow himself to even consider it, couldn't, but possessive? Why would Mikey—

"Brendon," Gerard says, and Brendon closes his eyes. "My brother really likes you."

Brendon doesn't— He can't— "What?"

"Mikey likes you. Like, a lot," Gerard says, shrugging, as if— As if it's nothing. His voice is gentle. Brendon realizes he's shaking. "Brendon?"

"I should go," he manages to choke out, and gets up. "Uh, Spencer will worry."

Gerard looks confused, and he starts to reach out. "Did— I thought—"

Brendon shakes his head, frantically. "It was nice to see you," he says, and flees before Gerard can say anything else.

~

"Brendon?" Spencer calls from the living room, and Brendon almost wants to go and hide in his room, but. But Spencer. Spencer can fix this.

"Hey, I figured you'd be back before me," Spencer says when he walks into the room. "Where were— Brendon?"

Brendon sits down on the couch next to Spencer, and just looks at him, willing him to understand what Brendon's thinking right now, because even he himself can't fucking make sense of it, but if Spencer knew then he could help, he always does.

"Brendon, fuck, tell me what happened."

"He likes me," Brendon whispers, and Spencer furrows his brow.

"Who?"

Brendon wraps his arms around his legs. "Mikey."

"Okay," Spencer says slowly. "How do you—"

"Gerard told me," Brendon says. "He. Do you think he lied?"

Spencer's looking really baffled now. "Why would he?"

"Why would he like me?"

Spencer shuffles closer to him on the couch, places a hand on his arm. "Brendon—"

"I— I don't—" He has no idea what he's saying.

"You like him, too," Spencer says, and Brendon nods helplessly. "So what's the problem?"

"I don't know," Brendon says. "How can he— He's Mikey. He wouldn't—"

Spencer huffs, and Brendon looks up at him. "Just go talk to him, sheesh."

Brendon shakes his head again and hides his face.

"Hey," Spencer says, and puts a hand around Brendon's shoulders. "Seriously, it'll be okay. You deserve to have this, okay, just talk to him."

"Are you sure?" Brendon asks, and he hates how small he sounds, but he trusts Spencer to get this right.

"Yes," Spencer says, and Brendon closes his eyes and lets Spencer pull him into a hug.

~

Gerard's back by the time Mikey wakes up from his restless nap. Gerard must sense that he's awake, because he walks into the living room almost immediately, and kneels down in front of the couch. It's late already, almost nine, and Gerard reaches out a hand to run through Mikey's hair.

"Come on," he says, and helps Mikey up so they can walk to the safe room together. The preparational drugs had helped a bit, but Mikey's jittery again, shaking. Gerard runs a soothing hand down his arm, and unlocks the door.

He hands Mikey the pills, and Mikey downs them quickly, first the sedatives and then the ones that bring about the change. He knows he has enough time to get out of his clothes, but just about, so he strips quickly before going to lie down at the soft carpet next to the small sofa Gerard will be staying on. The big windows help make the room less claustrophobic, and there's an artificial fire in the fire place.

Gerard locks the door behind them just in case—they haven't had attempts to escape since the first change here—and goes to curl up on the couch. Mikey prefers not to have anyone near him during the change, unlike Gerard, who pushes his head against Mikey's side, and lets Mikey soothe him through it.

He closes his eyes when the first cramps hit, and thinks back to running around their home forest with his brother, when they both felt safe, and they couldn't imagine anything ever taking that away.

He sleeps through most of the night, curled up on the floor with his tail covering his nose. He's dimly aware of Gerard's presence in the room, comforting, always taking care of him, safe.

Mikey wakes up to Gerard helping him up, and back into his own bed. He's still exhausted, and the pills have hold of him, so he passes out as soon as his head hits the pillow.

Gerard brings him coffee first thing when he wakes up in the afternoon. Mikey mumbles an unintelligible thanks, and quickly inhales it. Gerard waits until he's finished drinking it to say, "I talked to Brendon yesterday."

Mikey blinks at him, still a little out of it; confused. The coffee's helping, though.

"Where did you see him?"

"By the docks," Gerard says. "He was watching the shuttles take off. He asked where you were."

Mikey raises his eyebrow. "Really?"

"Yeah," Gerard says. "He— I might have meddled a bit." He looks sheepish, and Mikey sighs.

"What did you do?"

"Told him that you like him." Gerard shrugs, and Mikey wants to growl at him. He won't, he wouldn't, and the urge passes quickly, because it's Gerard, and this is what he does.

"Well," Mikey says, and takes a deep breath. "What did he say?"

Gerard looks down, and Mikey bites his lip. "I think he needed to... process it."

Mikey breathes out in a whoosh, and leans forward, resting his head against Gerard's shoulder, suddenly completely exhausted again.

"I think I'm gonna sleep some more," he says, and Gerard runs a quick hand through his hair.

"Sorry."

Mikey shakes his head. "It's fine." He lifts his head to see Gerard biting his lip, eyes huge and worried. Mikey quirks up the side one side of his mouth. "It'll be fine," he says, and it's ridiculous that he's the one who has to tell Gerard that, but that's just the way they are.

Gerard nods, and lets him lie down, pulls the blankets over him. "Love you," he murmurs into Mikey's ear, and Mikey would reply in kind, but sleep claims him.

~

Brendon doesn't stop by the music shop for a couple of days. He can't, he physically can't make himself go in there. Spencer calls him an idiot; fondly, as usual, and Brendon pretty much agrees.

Gerard said that Mikey liked him, Brendon wanted Mikey to like him, things were pretty fucking good on that front. At this point he's just being a coward.

Brendon decides to go out again—he hasn't really been back to the club, either—to at least get some of the nervous energy out. He's quietly thrumming with it as he steps through the doors. Maybe he'll say fuck it to everything, and hook up with someone—

Mikey's in the far corner of the club, next to the stage. Brendon isn't even really sure how he spotted him, but now that he has— Fuck it. He heads to the bar to grab a quick drink, still keeping an eye on Mikey. He's gonna fucking do this.

Mikey slips into the bathroom, and Brendon follows him before he can rethink this.

He comes to a stop once inside. Mikey's leaning against the sinks, looking right at Brendon. There's a small smile on his face, barely noticeable, but there, and his eyes are dark.

"... Did you know I was gonna follow you?" Brendon asks.

Mikey shrugs. "I was hoping you would. And I could smell you before you came through the door."

Brendon swallows heavily and waits for his brain to do the usual "oh shit, right, Mikey's a werewolf" dance, but it doesn't happen. Mikey's still just looking at him, eyes a little guarded, but his face is open, and Brendon steps forward and kisses him.

He panics for a brief second, but Mikey's hands come up to his shoulders almost immediately, and he's kissing back, and Brendon kind of wants to dance and cheer and never stop kissing him at the same time. Mikey places a hand on the back of Brendon's neck, then, and draws back a little. Brendon bites at Mikey's lip, sharp.

Mikey makes a low sound at the back of his throat, and it's like he just pushed a button to make Brendon that more frantic.

He pushes up against Mikey, trying to get closer, desperate. He needs— He needs to know that Mikey wants it as much, but he doesn't, shouldn't, maybe Spencer was wrong, maybe it can be just a hook-up, but then Mikey runs a gentle hand down Brendon's belly, and Brendon wants, so much, everything.

"Shh," Mikey says. He's setting the pace now, and he starts to speed up, finally moves down to cup Brendon through his jeans. His lips move from Brendon's to his jaw, his neck; slow and languid. Brendon doesn't understand how Mikey can be so calm about this.

Mikey chuckles, and says, "Sorry, I'm always like this for a couple of days after the change."

For a second Brendon thinks that "like this" also entails the ability to read minds, but probably he was just talking out loud. Never mind, Brendon can be enthusiastic enough for the two of them.

He presses into Mikey's touch, and Mikey grins against his neck and starts working on Brendon's zipper. He has Brendon pushed against the wall now, right next to the door, and Brendon's cock twitches at the thought of someone walking in.

"Fuck," Brendon pants out. "Fuck, Mikey, you—"

Mikey has Brendon's zipper open now, and he pushes Brendon's jeans out of the way, and kneels down. He looks up at Brendon, catching his eye, and Brendon whines. Fuck, the look on Mikey's face. Mikey tugs Brendon's underwear down, slowly, and leans in. At first he just rests his forehead against Brendon's belly; it's like he's breathing Brendon in. Brendon groans when Mikey finally takes hold of his cock and swallows down. Fuck, Mikey's good.

The music in the club's loud enough that Brendon doesn't really have to muffle the noises he's making. Mikey has a hand splayed out on his hip, and the other holding on to the base of Brendon's cock as he licks along the shaft.

Brendon's hips hitch forward, and Mikey growls. Fuck, that's ridiculously hot.

It doesn't take long until Brendon's coming down Mikey's throat. The next thing Brendon registers is Mikey kissing him, licking into his mouth with the taste of Brendon still on his tongue. Mikey pulls back a little to get Brendon's pants up, and Brendon whimpers. Mikey lets out a breath, like a laugh, and runs a hand over Brendon's side.

Brendon pushes his face against Mikey's neck, and Mikey's hand comes up to stroke at his back. Brendon nuzzles closer to him, and kisses his neck. He's feeling really fucking good right now. Relaxed, and happy, and his brain has gone a little slow, but Mikey. He curses himself for not doing this before, and then realizes that Mikey's shifting a bit on his feet and he hasn't—

"Hey," Brendon says, pulls back and waves a hand towards Mikey's crotch. "I can."

Mikey shakes his head, and Brendon's stomach sinks a little, but Mikey's smiling. "How about we go to my place?"

Brendon giggles suddenly, and Mikey furrows his brow. "Your brother did say I was welcome any time."

Mikey makes a face. "He's not home right now." That just makes Brendon crack up more. He thinks he's feeling just a bit delirious, but luckily Mikey's here, so it's okay. "Fuck you," Mikey says. "Are you coming?"

Brendon wheezes, and leans his forehead against Mikey's temple. He can tell Mikey's grinning when he says, "Oh my god, why do I even like you?" and wraps his arms around Brendon's waist.

"Because I'm a delight," Brendon says, and presses a kiss to the corner of Mikey's mouth.

Mikey grumbles something that sounds like an affirmative and drags them both out the bathroom.

~

One week later

It's almost time for Brendon's break when Mikey walks into the store. Brendon blinks a little at first, and then grins.

"Hey," he says, cheerily, and then notices that Mikey's carrying two cups. "What's that?"

"Coffee," Mikey says, and sets one cup down in front of Brendon and takes a sip of his own.

Brendon stares at it, and bites his lip.

"You got me coffee?" he asks, looking up at Mikey. They haven't really had the chance to talk in the past few days. Brendon's been busy with setting up for tutoring lessons, and still trying to find a new job, and Gerard changed a couple of days ago, so Mikey's been preoccupied as well.

Brendon's pretty tired from all the running around he's been doing, and now Mikey's here and he brought him coffee. Brendon beams at him, and Mikey gives him a small smile in return.

"I have tonight free," Brendon says. "Wanna come over?"

Mikey just kisses him in response.

Werewolves in space! Best ever! I really like that you went with Brendon/Mikey, since that's not a pairing I see in fic very much, and the dynamic was really interesting.

I want to reread this a million-zillion times and comment on the awesomeness each and every time, but I assume after the first couple of times I would resort to seal noises and ridiculously happy faces you couldn't see.

(I warn, I might be slightly out of it...but I can't not comment now that I've read this.)

I really enjoy the feel of this and how I'm instantly pulled into this world and completely surrounded by it. There's all these tiny differences and quirks to the world that fill it up with this essence of reality, this sense of truth.

You make the existence of werewolves in this type of setting natural and believable. I like the touch about pills to bring about the change. Okay, I really just love everything ever about this.

Of course Brendon would run into a werewolf while going to get milk. OF COURSE, and of course he would want to help and my words are tangling up and I can't properly shout to the ceiling how freaking awesome as punch this is.

I love the interactions between Brendon and Mikey and how everything builds up to them getting together. How one chance encounter turns into paths crossing more than once that becomes something that could be/is more. I also reallllllyyy, reallly lovvve the Mikey+Gerard brotherness. I am really such a sucker for siblingness and you hit such a wonderful tone with them.

So many of the scenes you wrote are epically visual and I can see them in my head.

I can not forget to mention the music shop and Ray. It feels very solid as a place. Like it wasn't just written in to be there, but was supposed to exist.

Spencer being the best friend ever and how he worries about Brendon and is awesome.

BRENDON BEING ALL BRENDONY annddd hyper and nice and just not sure he deserves things.

Mikey being Mikey(and fuck I have slid down into mentally hand-waving excitedly as a legit form of trying to explain my elation)

ALSO GABE SHOWED UP.....OF COURSE HE WOULD...he likes to show up in everything :):):):)

I want to say thank you for this and choosing this pairing. I really, seriously love rarer Brendon pairings and BOY DID YOU DO SO SHINEILY AWESOME.

I soooooo want to know more about this world....everything you'd be willing to tell. ALL THE LOVE MAN...ALL OF IT <3<3<3<3<3<3

This is all kinds of amazing.

The world building was awesome, with just the right amount of details to satisfy but also make me want to know more.

I loved how you wrote Gerard and Mikey, and how Brendon found Mikey, because of course he would find a werewolf and then help him home.

Really, this is fantastic.

OH my lordy I loved this. Brendon/Mikey isn't a pairing I would have ever thought of but I LOVED this. Brendon's jumpy personality with Mikey's subdued one just WORKS!

Absolutely marvelous space AU and I would be happy to read more in this 'verse should you ever decide to write it. I really like the way there are little details (werewolves being okay on some planets and not others) about the whole 'verse. The way Brendon stumbles into Mikey and feels that he has to help him seems very Brendon. I like the way Brendon woos Mikey with smoothies and how Mikey tries to ignore his attraction. Mikey and Gerard being brothers is also great to read.

I really loved this. That they have to take medication to change is fascinating, as is the hint of strife with the Wars thing. Ray owning a music store even at the end of the universe is so damn believable. Spencer wanting to keep Brendon safe made me happy. And of course the mention of Gabe was fantastic. Of course he would try to shake hands, and recognisewhen Spencer wasn't cranky. And Gerard outing Mikey, and Brendon spazzing out...it all just worked so well!

Not only is it a great story, as I was reading I was picking up on all these things I knew Jasley would love. You catered this so well to her! Great job!
