This is so fabulously awesome! I love it. Thank you mystery writer. This really made my day.
I want to quote the whole thing back at you - as impractical as that might be - because there is so much in it that I really enjoyed tons.
And neither of them spilled a drop of soup. The tone of this is so perfect and I love how Alicia is about the business of survival first and then her need to touch Mikey and reassure herself of his presence.
I really enjoyed how well thought out their way of life was and how it influenced every part of the world. I love that Mikey and Alicia are underground and their underground space is set up with the thought to how living underground would work and how they know physical signs because they're more attune to how the world is structured as opposed to the soldiers who are electronic and don't have the training to track on site because of them it would be specialized training.
It was kind of natural at this time of year, for the warmth, but it could be the height of summer and she still wouldn't want to let Mikey go. The sentiment here is perfect and it reflects their environment too. I love the way tactics of living in this world are worked in like how long nights are better for the rebels but bring their own set of problems to deal with too. The disconnected feelings and isolation/loneliness made a lot of sense and I really liked how the people in this 'verse addressed them. Pete unplugging without aid feels really right and I like how Alicia is still sort of amazed/awed to know that he did it.
I love all the nods to current electronic privacy issues and the way that shapes this world. The posties being the original rebels was a super fun twist! I was also happy but surprised by Bebe's cameo and I like how you worked in her status as the newest member by making her young and a little gullible for Pete's misleading and how she's so serious. Alicia's assessment of her was so perfectly toned the way she was a little curious but thawed out when she realized just how young and new to everything Bebe was. The post-runner idea was neat too and I like the way Patrick and Gabe are in this world doing their own thing to be part of the rebellion.
Sometimes I think even if we weren't fighting them, they'd think we're a menace just for not being on Facebook." I really like how the character make jokes that aren't really jokes about their situation and how they're very apt given what type of lifestyle they're living. The not-jokes made me smile.
"Serves me right for telling Gerard that archery was a waste of time," Of course Gerard would do that! This line makes me grin every time I read it.
